PREREQUISITES
Following is the minimum skill level needed to attend a session of Vermont Rock Music Camp. Please review the requirements for your specific instrument(s) carefully. If needed, review the list with your private or school music instructor.

Guitar:
~ the ability to tune your guitar using your own electronic tuner.
~ the ability to play the most common open chords (C, G, D, E, A, Dm, Em, Am, etc..).
~ know all the note names on the 5th and 6th strings up to the 12th fret.
~ the ability to play
power chords (i.e. "5" chords) rooted on the 5th and 6th strings.
~ the ability to play a song.
Drums:
~ the ability to play a simple “backbeat”:
(bass drum on beats 1 & 3, snare on beats 2 & 4, quarter notes and/or eighth notes on the hi-hat cymbals).
~ the ability to play a simple “four on the floor” beat:
(bass drum on beats 1 2 3 4, snare on beats 2 & 4, quarter notes and/or eighth notes on the hi-hat cymbals).
~ the ability to play a one measure (4 beat) fill, in time.
~ the ability to play through a song, in time.
Bass:
~ the ability to tune your bass using your own electronic tuner.
~ know all the note names on all strings up to the 12th fret.
~ the ability to play a song.
Keyboard:
~ the ability to play major and minor triads in the right hand while playing the root in the left hand.
~ the ability to play a song.
Voice:
~ the ability to sing a one octave major scale (do, re, mi, fa, so …) ascending and descending, in tune.
~ the ability to sing a song, in tune.
Horns:~ the ability to play a major scale, ascending and descending, in tune.
~ the ability to play a chromatic scale, ascending and descending, in tune.
Hand Percussion:
~ the ability to play through a song, in time.
